“Yes, I’ll have a caramel latte, whole milk, with a pump of mocha. And of course I’d like whipped cream! I’ll have a small – I’m trying to lose weight!”

Old habits can be hard to break, and your favorite order during your morning coffee run might be one of them. On average, there are about 30 calories per pump of that caramel syrup – and very little nutrition! Once you add dairy products, such as milk and whipped cream, your morning coffee could very well put you over your daily calorie budget before 8:00 AM!

If you also have a sugary soda with lunch and dinner, you’ll be drinking more calories than you’re eating! This might be why one of the first pieces of advice that people get when they begin losing weight is “stop drinking your calories!” There are many ways to replace old drink habits with new ones and still lose weight with Chirothin.

Are you curious about how to lose weight when you’re a coffee or soda fiend? The fastest way to lose weight is to begin to swap out your beverages of choice with lower-calorie alternatives that will still fill you up. Read on to learn a few tips and tricks for what to drink during your weight loss with Chirothin!

Start With Your Morning Cup

If you’re a coffee drinker, you can begin to work toward weight loss goals first thing in the morning! Consider making your coffee at home so you can have control over exactly what goes into your steaming mug each day. If you must go through the drive-thru on the way to work, be aware of what swaps to make so you’re not drinking an entire meal before breakfast!

Dairy Swaps

Consider what you add to your coffee to make it bearable each day. Black coffee is your lowest calorie option, but as soon as you begin to lighten it, it quickly becomes a calorie bomb. If you measure out your fancy coffee creamer by the tablespoon, you’ll quickly find out exactly how much you’ve been adding to your morning cup!

The first swap to consider is swapping nut milk for milk or creamers. The lowest calorie option that you can find commercially is cashew milk, which is only 25 calories for an entire cup! Another popular option includes unsweetened almond milk, at about 30 calories per cup.

Some people prefer oat milk which, at 120 calories per cup, is still lighter than the same volume of whole milk. Soy milk, likewise, is a lighter take at 80 calories per cup.

If you’re a dairy purist, you can swap to skim milk, which, at 60 calories per cup, also contains a good amount of nourishing protein.

Other Swaps

If you crave some sweetness in your coffee, sugar-free and zero-calorie coffee syrups are available commercially. If you prefer to avoid artificial sweeteners, however, consider adding a sprinkle of cinnamon directly to your coffee grounds. It will add a spicy sweetness to every cup, and you might not even miss the sugar!

Another swap you can make is the swap from milky drinks like lattes to regular coffee. A latte is mostly milk, which is why they are so calorically dense. Making the switch to plain coffee or cold brew with a little milk to lighten it can cut your calories in half or more!

If all you need is a warm cup of something to start your day, consider switching to tea! Green tea in particular has wonderful health effects that might even speed up your weight loss!

The Soda Solution

If you’re not a coffee drinker, you might be a soda fiend. With its high caffeine content, soda can be just as addictive as coffee, leading many individuals to ask “How many calories should I eat in a day if I don’t want to give up my soda?”

If you are okay with artificial sweeteners, the easiest swap to make is a switch from full-sugar soda to diet or zero-calorie soda. Do note that diet soda can be just as addicting as sugar soda, so if you’re making a healthy lifestyle change with Chirothin, it might not be the best way to lose weight.

Many people find that the psychological feeling of the cold can or bubbles is all they need and find they’re content with a switch to seltzer. Seltzer comes in a variety of delicious flavors. While the lack of sweetness takes some getting used to, many people find they love it!

Easier – and less expensive! – is a switch to water. Water has the added benefit of helping you feel fuller if you drink some before and after eating. It can help you reduce cravings and feel more satisfied with less.

For a little fruity flavor, consider purchasing a diffuser bottle. You can add the flavor of fresh fruit to your water. If you have concerns about satiation, you can even turn your water or seltzer into a quick snack by adding a small amount of soaked chia seeds, which add texture and fill you up quickly!

Lose Weight Drinking Your Calories

Some people prefer to drink their calories in the form of shakes. While this is an excellent way to keep track of calories and ensure you’re getting enough protein, it is not always sustainable. If this is not a habit you think you can sustain beyond your weight loss, it might not be the right approach.

If you would like to drink one of your snacks each day, choose a high-protein drink. Consider making it yourself with protein powder so you can control the flavor and additives and keep it light. These drinks can be satiating, and sometimes even make for satisfying desserts during weight loss!

If you want to lose weight, swapping out your favorite drinks with lower-calorie alternatives is an excellent first step.
